Declaration of Language Asset Trust

This Declaration is issued by Wekify LLC. It is a formal, public, and binding statement of company policy: digital assets, platforms, data, tools, and resources developed for a language under a Wekify language lab are held in trust, not as commercial property, for the permanent benefit of the community that speaks that language.

This document is the company rule. A language lab may also publish a declaration written to its own community. That community document is the instance. This one is the model.

Declarant

Wekify LLC, acting through its founder and authorized representative.

Language assets

Data, software, platforms, tools, intellectual property, domain names, databases, corpora, dictionaries, audio, documentation, and research outputs developed in relation to a specific language, whether they exist now or are developed later.

Language lab

A named research and development arm operating within Wekify LLC for one language. The lab sits inside the company for legal and administrative purposes and holds the founding mandate for that language’s future community foundation.

Language community

The people who speak, inherit, and carry a language, in their home region, in the diaspora, and wherever they live, as the rightful cultural owners of that language and its heritage.

Custodian period

The period during which Wekify LLC holds that language’s assets in trust as temporary custodian, until a transfer event.

Transfer event

The moment legal ownership of those language assets is formally transferred to a community foundation established for that language.

Wekify LLC hereby declares, without condition or ambiguity, that:

Core commitment: we build the tools. The language belongs to its people. Language assets are held in trust for that community, permanently, unconditionally, and without exception.

• Language assets are not commercial property. Although they may sit under the legal name of Wekify LLC as a matter of operational necessity, they are not treated as commercial assets of the company. They are not subject to sale, acquisition, transfer to investors, or use as collateral.
• Assets are held in trust for the language community. Wekify LLC acts as a temporary custodian, not an owner. The community is the beneficial owner now, whether or not a formal transfer event has happened yet.
• The language lab holds the founding mandate. When resources and conditions permit, a foundation for that language should be established as an independent nonprofit governed by that community.
• No commercial entity shall control that foundation. Wekify LLC may serve as a technology partner under a written service agreement, but shall hold no ownership stake, controlling interest, or governance authority over the foundation’s decisions about language assets.
• The founder and authorized representative affirms this Declaration. The intent expressed here survives any change in Wekify LLC’s ownership, leadership, or corporate structure.
• This Declaration cannot be revoked unilaterally. Once published, it is a public commitment. Treating language assets as commercial property would violate the trust placed in the company by language communities.
• Good faith during the custodian period. During that period, Wekify shall maintain and develop the assets in good faith, keep records, avoid actions that diminish their integrity, and work toward a community foundation when a lab is ready for one.

This Declaration is about language assets. It is not about every product Wekify ships.

• Studio tools and non-language products remain company property. They are not language assets because they helped build a language platform.
• Shared engineering patterns may be reused across labs. Reuse of a tool does not move a community’s language data into company inventory.
• A community may still license, share, or publish its own materials. This Declaration limits the company, not the community.

A new language lab inherits this Declaration when it is formed. It does not need a new company-level document to be protected.

When a lab is ready, it should publish its own community declaration naming that language, that community, and that lab. Until then, this company Declaration is the public rule.
